Young Guns Pacing Series Final and Astronomical Headline Race Program at CDPEC
Charlottetown, PE - The Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre will play host to one of the biggest racing events of the 2008 season Saturday night. Post time is 7pm.
The evening will feature an awesome display of speed and talent with Young Guns Pacing Series Final starring Riccaras Sun, who will attempt to extend his winning streak to six in a row, in race 10 and racing superstar Astronomical, a winner of over $700,000 in lifetime earnings, will make his 2008 debut in the feature race scheduled for post at 9:35 pm.
The Young Guns Final is going to be a battle from start to finish and the race strategy will certainly affect the outcome. One horse that should have a say in the early flow of the race is Risetotheoccassion. Owned by David Coles, Halifax, Raymond Saunders, Darmouth and Philip MacLellan, Lawrencetown, NS and trained by Kenny St John, Risetotheoccasion will have Brian MacPhee in the bike and this guy could control the early fractions because of his ability to leave the gate off the rail.
Riccaras Sun, an elimination winner last week, leaves from post 2 for owner Ken MacInnis, trainer Trevor Hicken and driver Kenny Arsenault while the other elimination winner, Rymar Chief, owned by Eric Doucette, South Rustico, will have Joey Pineau at the controls and planning strategy from post 7. The final also includes JJ Gamble, owned by Jamie MacKinley, Cornwall, Monster in Law from the Ken Ramsey stable of Kensinton, trainer-driver Jimmy Davis is back from Nova Scotia with Pictonian Hector, Allamerican Dazzle ships in from Exhibition Park in New Brunswick with Marc Campbell and Richards Thunder, owned by Sherry Feehan, Charlottetown, will complete the field.
Racing analyst, Les MacIsaac, is not ready to leave the Riccaras Sun bandwagon just yet. “He continues to pick up a new mark every time out and now is undefeated in five this year,” said MacIsaac. “They say winning streaks are made to be broken but we don’t see it ending for this guy just yet.”
The night also features Astronomical and a list of heavy weights that include Buck Barker, Howmacs Dragon, Dusty Lane Ely, Mighty and Strong, who is a new addition to the Pat Morris racing stable, and Porthill Alf.
Charlottetown will carry live coverage of world record holder Somebeachsomehwere in his 2008 debut from Mohawk racetrack. Shadow Play, trained by Moore, is in the same division of the Burlington Stakes which carries a purse of $100,000.
