The Dr. Barry Ling Memorial Set for Thursday at CDPEC

 Charlottetown, PE - A well known physician, sports figure and longtime member of the harness racing community will be honored Thursday night at the Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre. The Charlottetown Club will hold a race in memory of Dr. Barry Ling who passed away earlier this year at the age of 60.

 

The Dr. Barry Ling Memory will be called to post at 8:35pm in race 7 with a powerful field of contenders vying for the trackside presentation. Friends and family will be in the historic Judge’s Stand in the centerfield and will be present the red/white cooler to the winner. The morning line favorite is Pans O Silver leaving from post 5 for driver Brodie MacPhee and trainer-owner Alex MacPhee of Cornwall. The seven-year old has one win in his 2008 campaign out of 16 starts but has been clocked consistently in the 1:58 range. Classie Albert, owned by Sterling and Brendon Mullen, Tracadie Cross, is in the running for catch-driver Mark MacKinnon and My Son Robbie has been sharp lately for trainer Cindy MacDonald, owner Sandra Stead and driver Willie Murphy. The field also includes Kiss the West and Jason Hughes, Senator Seelster with Neil Bambrick, Sweet Velocity and Walter Cheverie, Hawaiian Legacy with Gary Chappell and JK Casablanca has the services of Kenny Murphy.

 

Todds on Nuke, a new purchase for the Neal Moase stable, will move up to the top class after his debut winning performance last week. Marc Campbell will handle the driving duties for trainer Moase and take on the likes of Blue Meadow Willie trained by Ralph Frizzell and red hot Coors Life for trainer Jay Noye, Hunter River.

 

Trotter Dunmore TKO, track record holder at Summerside, will meet up against Hopedale Last Bill and Joey Pineau in the evening trot class. Gary Chappell will drive TKO while his owner Edward Smallwood handles stable-mate Dunmore Alpha. Hopedale Last Bill, owned by Ken MacInnis, Charlottetown has five wins and a second in his last six outings.
