Rustico TriSox Wins Blair Andrew Memorial for Pineau

Charlottetown, PE - Driver Joey Pineau and Rustico Trisox won the Blair Andrew Memorial, the Maritime Breeders Final, for three-year old trotters Saturday night at the Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre in 2:02.4 to keep their winning streak alive.

 

Leaving from post 8, Rustico Trisox sat third in the early going after co favorite Saulsbrook Balance, A JS pride and Jaimesgotthepower made breaks when the wings folded. The three-year-old Nukes Image daughter made her charge at the half and was able to chase down fraction setter Miss Moe and Kenny Arsenault to win by a head for owners John Pineau, Rustico and Myron Ford, Winsloe. Super S Sidney, with Clare MacDonald in the bike, made a miscue past the half to eliminate her chances of making the top three. Saulsbrook Balance recovered to take third place money in the $8,144 purse.

 

Mighty and Strong, owned by Patrick Morris, Charlottetown, used rail control to their advantage to set up shop on the front end and turn away all challengers in the Saturday night feature in 1:57 flat. Ron Matheson was in the bike for victory. Whos Smiling Now and Jason Hughes were second while Lakota Hall and Walter Cheverie closed strong to take the show spot.

 

Clare MacDonald and Snortin Three won the Mildred Williams Driving Series event in race 5. Eight female drivers participated in the series and raised over $1,700 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Tammy MacKay, Ambyr MacPhee and Colleen Chappell represented the Maritime drivers in the competition. Anne Curran, Ann Karin Larsen, Elizabeth Jansen, and Anne Marie Turenne flew to Charlottetown to compete in the popular series.  

 

Racing returns Tuesday for the Canada Day program at the Sumerside Raceway. Post time is 1pm.
