Pineau Captures Two Divisions of the Lady Slipper Stakes

Charlottetown, PEDriver Joey Pineau had a productive night at the office capturing two divisions of the Lady Slipper Stakes Thursday at the Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre.

 

The Rustico native won with Rustico Silverstar for owners John Pineau, Rustico and Myron Ford, Winlsoe. The two-year-old filly recorded the mile in 2:07.3. Rustico Trisox won her division of the Lady Slipper Stake in 2:03 for the same winning connections. Co-owner John Pineau handles the training duties on both winners.

 

Lady Slipper Stake winners also included Dunmore Chip for Ted Smallwood and West River Spud and Ralph Annear.

 

There were four divisions of the Joe O’Brien Memorial Stakes with Porthill Gatsby and Danny Romo taking the first gold division while Island Historic and Kenny Arsenault capturing the other $10,000 gold division. Haggis MacBagpipe with Paul MacDonald and Woodmere Shamis won their grassroots levels in the Joe O’Brien Memorial Stakes.

 

Lincolns Legacy, with Jason Hughes in the bike, used the passing lane to win the Canadian Produce Marketing Association Pace in 2:00.4. Cheryl Poulton of Charlottetown was the winning owner. The four-year-old is trained by Paul MacDonald.

 

 Racing returns Saturday night at the CDPEC. Post time is 7pm.
