Charlottetown, PE – The field is set for the Saturday afternoon $2,200 feature at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park. Olivia Hall has drawn the rail with race favorites Yankee Sun and Porthill Alf drawing outside posts while Island Jazzystar, who saw his winning streak come to an end last week, leaves from post 4. Opening post time for the card is 1pm with the feature presentation scheduled for 2:35pm AST.
Yankee Sun, owned by the BM Stable, Grand-Dique, NB, will make his 33rd start of the season. Driver Kenny Arsenault has the option of sending him to the front to control the pace or take back off the gate and use his powerful finishing kick to run them down in the lane. Porthill Alf and driver Marc Campbell may also look for the front as was the case in his last start when he fired the Duane MacEachern trainee from post 6 settling for a second place finish in 1:58.3.
The field also includes Life Savior driven by Philip Desroches. The newcomer owned by Kevin MacMillan, O’Leary has been charted in 1:59.4 over Summerside racetrack while Best of Life, trained by Chris MacKay, has also been entered and leaves from post 3. He’s got 17 top three finishes this season. Post 7 belongs to stakes star Porthill Gatsby owned by Sandy and Sonya Baird, Trenton NS and Clifford Garland, Carbonear, NL. The three-year-old colt, who’s banked over $41,000 this season, will be handled by driver Earl Smith.
Pans O Silver has been established as the 5-2 morning line favorite in the Atlantic Bursary Pace on race 9. Brian MacPhee drives for his father Alex with his daughter Ambyr handling the other race favorite, Aahm Cruisen. Rymar Chief and driver Ken Murphy are also tri candidates.
Southview Shannon, with driver Danny MacDonald, is favored to win the race opener to lead off the Play4 players while Pleasefoolishsun gets the Super Pack players rolling and Artizzmoe has a shot of pulling off a win for the Pick 6 players on race 6. The jackpot is a cool $1,000 if you can go the distance.
