Charlottetown, PE – The stars are out in full force this weekend at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

 

The racetrack will host six divisions of the Island Breeders Championship finals during an action packed 13 dash card totaling $77,300 in purse money. Post time is 1pm. The action will be carried on the Bell Aliant Race Day show beginning at 12:45pm AST. Click on the live video link at the top of the page.

 

Players at Charlottetown and Summerside locations will also be booking bets on the Breeders Cup world championships live from Santa Anita Park in Los Angeles featuring the 5 Million dollar Breeders Cup and a Pick 6 that traditionally generates a $4 Million dollar betting pool.

 

Meridian Magic, who has won her last nine starts, has a chance to win the Triple Crown honors when she takes on seven other rivals in the $13,000 two-year-old filly final in race 6. Kenny Arsenault will handle the daughter of Largo who has banked $70,512 in her first year of racing for owners Barry Martin and James Gillis, Sydney, N.S.

 

Scarlet Patti, owned by Gordon MacLean, Winsloe, and Allbentoutofshape, a member of the Dooleys’ Boys racing stable, Halifax N.S., could also add Triple Crown honors to their resumes.

 

Red Shores at Summerside features a 13-dash program on Sunday. Post time is 1pm. The afternoon features the Isabelle and Ivan Cameron Memorial. Track announcer Vance Cameron will call the action in his parent’s memorial in race 11 scheduled for post at 3:50pm. In Blue, listed as the morning line favorite, has drawn the rail in the event for driver Brian Andrew. Boldrooster Two, a recent starter in the Joe O’Brien gold division, is also a threat from the outside post for driver Earl Smith and owner Fred Paynter, Stanley Bridge while Barry Biggar could engineer the winning trip from post two with Island Hurricane from the Bluefin Stable, Stratford.

 

Island Jazzystar will try to knock off the competition in the $1,900 class. Corey MacPherson drove him to victory on Thursday in 1:57.4. The Mitchell Tierney owned pacer will need to hold off challenges from Real Bond, Wiggins Hanover and Tanks A lot in order to prevail.
